Avalon Leisure's Race for Red!

RaceForRedThumbCustomers at Avalon's Leisure Centres will be taking part in a 6-hour-long cycle race to raise money for the British Heart Foundation, the company’s charity partner.

Avalon Leisure, who manages Wells Leisure Centre, Frome Leisure Centre and Strode Swimming Pool, is hosting its annual ‘Race for Red’ as part of the charity’s Wear Red Day on Friday 24th February 2012.

The Leisure Centres will be racing against each other to see who can post the biggest accumulative distance over the 6 hour period. The race will be taking place between 1.00pm – 7.00pm.

Everyone is invited to get involved and customers can book a 10-minute slot on the bikes by visiting reception at one of the Centres. The event is free, although donations are welcome.

In total, £784.72 was raised for the British Heart Foundation at last year’s inaugural event.

In the race itself, Frome Leisure Centre came out on top, producing an impressive 374.90km over the 6 hour period. The total distance cycled across each of the centres, a massive 1,389km, was equivalent to cycling from the company’s headquarters in Street to the Spanish capital Madrid.
