Avalon Leisure raises £1,500 for the British Heart Foundation

BHFAprilPromoPicture3Avalon’s Leisure Centres have raised more than £1,500 for the British Heart Foundation.

The company, which manages Strode Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre, Wells Leisure Centre and Frome Leisure Centre, ran a promotion throughout April allowing customers to join as an ‘Avalon Lifestyle Member’ for just £5.

In return, the leisure management group pledged to donate every joining fee received to their corporate charity partner, the British Heart Foundation. In total, £1,500.32 was raised.

Strode Swimming Pool receptionist Allison Hudson did a particularly sterling job, managing to persuade customers to donate an incredible £85 in total above the minimum £5 joining fee.

Avalon Leisure Marketing Co-ordinator Brendon Mitchell said: “We would like to say a special ‘thank you’ to everyone who donated more than the mandatory £5.

“We would also like to thank every customer who took the time to fill in a gift aid form. With charities receiving an additional 25p in every £1 raised from the government, we are confident that hundreds of pounds will have been raised in gift aid alone through this promotion.”

Fundraising Volunteer Manager Lucy Saunders added: “We are so grateful to Avalon Leisure for raising such an amazing amount of money through their April promotion.

“The British Heart Foundation is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year and we have launched our special Mending Broken Hearts Appeal, which will fund ground breaking research that could literally ‘mend broken hearts’ in as little as 10 years’ time.

“The kind support from organisations like Avalon Leisure can give hope to hundreds of thousands of people living with heart problems.”
