Jo Frith wins 2010 Somerset Swimmer of the Year

Jo Frith has been awarded 2010 Somerset Swimmer of the Year for her achievements in Masters and disability swimming.

Jo, who swims twice-a-week at Wells Leisure Centre, who are managed by Avalon Leisure, was diagnosed with multiple sclerosis in the mid-1990's and took up swimming as part of a physiotherapy programme to help with her walking.

With a series of national records to her name, Jo has also proven herself on the world stage, winning four gold medals at the World Masters Games in Canada in 2005 before adding a further four gold’s to her tally in Australia last year.

Jo has also won 13 silver and 10 bronze medals in a variety of events at the Disability National Championships.

The Wincanton-based swimmer said: "I would not have been able to achieve these accolades without the support of Avalon Leisure, who have sponsored my training over the last 10 years."
