Peter Gilpin, who is the Managing Director of Avalon Leisure, has shown that he is equally at home in pools as running them after returning from the European Masters Swimming Championships with a silver medal and a British record.

Peter was delighted with the team’s success, saying “This was an event we have been training for and looking forward to all year. In June we won the British title but just missed the British record, which was our target, so to get it in Cadiz was very satisfying. The silver medal was an added bonus as we went into the event ranked 8^th and felt that a medal was probably unlikely, but we all improved on our previous times and came up with a great team performance”.  

In his individual events Peter finished 11^th in the 50m backstroke and 12^th in the 100m backstroke, the event in which he is the current British masters champion.
