Avalon Leisure's 30,000 Splashers!

In August we wanted 30,000 people to swim at our Leisure Centres - you helped us to reach our target!

To say 'thank you', our swimming pools will be holding a series of special free swimming sessions in September. The sessions, which spread across 11 days throughout the month, will give you the chance to enjoy up to 13 hours worth of free swimming!

Our innovative '30,000 Splashers' project was running in conjunction with the BBC’s ‘Big Splash’ campaign.

Alongside British Swimming, the BBC is hoping to increase swimming participation levels up and down the country over the next 10 months. Throughout the period, they will be working closely with local swimming pools to offer a range of exciting ‘Big Splash’ activities and resources to help get the nation swimming.

Emily Swain, the ASA’s Aquatic Officer for Dorset and Somerset, said: “Swimming is England’s favourite sport and the Big Splash campaign is a celebration of this.

“We are delighted that Avalon Leisure is supporting us in our drive to get more people into our local pools. “

Brendon Mitchell, Avalon Leisure’s Marketing Co-ordinator, added: “We are so pleased that we managed to hit our 30,000 Splashers target, with 31,169 people swimming at our centres during August.

“We’re excitied that we're now able to give something back to the community by putting on these free swimming sessions. We hope that the public will come out in force and embrace this opportunity to either reaffirm or recapture their love for the wonderful sport of swimming.”

Strode Swimming Pool and Fitness Centre

Thursday 15^th September: 6.00am – 7.00am

Thursday 22^nd September: 12.30pm – 1.30pm

Friday 30^th September: 8.30pm – 10.00pm

Frome Leisure Centre

Saturday 10^th September: 10.00am – 11.00am

Saturday 17^th September: 10.00am – 11.00am
